How to Order Custom Flashings in Strathalbyn
Flashing is one of those parts of a house that does an enormous amount of work and gets no credit for it, right up until water finds its way in behind something and you are looking at a repair bill that has nothing to do with the flashing and everything to do with the flashing not being there.
We order flashings made to your specification in either Colorbond or Zinc, and the steel comes from BlueScope. They are delivered to us twice a week, so the turnaround is usually short.
Where flashings go
Anywhere two things meet and water might get between them. Roofing is the obvious one, and so are windows and doors.
- Apron flashing. Where a roof meets a wall.
- Step flashing. Down the side of something that rises through the roof line.
- Z-flashing. Over horizontal ledges, so water runs off rather than sitting there.
Each one does a specific job and each one relies on being installed the right way round, which sounds obvious and is the commonest way a flashing fails.
What to work out before you order
- Where it is going. What is the flashing doing, and which way does the water need to run.
- The specification. Material, colour and profile. If you are matching existing roofing, bring the colour name if you know it, or a photo if you do not.
- The lengths. Measure twice. Custom means made to your number, so your number is the one it gets made to.
