Where Can I Get Springwater Refills in Strathalbyn?
This is one of the questions we get asked most often by people who have just moved to town, and the answer is a lot simpler than people expect. We run the Mt Lofty Springwater exchange at H, so you bring your empty 11 litre bottle in, hand it over, and take a full one away with you.
How the exchange actually works
It is a swap rather than a refill, which means nobody is standing there filling your bottle while you wait. You walk in with the empty, you walk out with a full one, and the whole thing takes about as long as it sounds like it should. If you have never done it before, just bring the bottle to the counter and we will sort you out.
The bottles are the standard 11 litre Mt Lofty Springwater ones. If you have not got one yet, come and have a chat with us and we will get you started.
Why bother with the exchange
The obvious one is that you are not buying and binning a stack of single use plastic every fortnight, because the same bottle keeps going around. The less obvious one is the weight. Eleven litres of water is heavier than most people plan for, and the exchange means you are only ever carrying one bottle at a time rather than a trolley full of small ones.
And it is water out of the Mount Lofty Ranges, which is about as local as drinking water gets around here.
Who ends up using it
A lot of them are households who just prefer the taste, and a fair few are workplaces and sheds where somebody got sick of the servo bottle. It also gets used for events, where having a couple of full bottles on hand solves a problem that would otherwise turn into forty small ones in a bin at the end of the day.
