    One side flat, one side curved, so this file covers flat edges and curved surfaces without swapping tools halfway through the job.

    The flat face handles straight edges the same as an ordinary flat file, while the curved face gets into concave surfaces, inside a hole or the inner curve of a bracket where a flat file just won't sit. The bastard cut removes material fast, and at 250mm there's enough length to keep the stroke steady.

    It's the one file worth keeping in the kit when the job could go either way, flat or curved.
