    Fold the rope back, clamp it down, and you have got a secure eye. This is a forged galvanised wire rope grip, sized for 12mm wire rope, the U-bolt clamp that terminates or joins steel cable without a swage press.

    Sit the saddle on the live part of the rope and the U-bolt over the dead tail, then do the nuts up firm. A tip that matters. Use at least four grips on 12mm rope for a safe hold, space them about six rope diameters apart, and grease the threads first so they pull up evenly. Forged construction gives a better bite than the cheap cast type, and the galvanising keeps rust at bay outdoors.
