Whiting don't need much, just a small hook, a light trace and bait sitting clean on the bottom. The Whiting Smacker in the Pilchard pattern comes pre-tied to that job, so you can thread a strip of bait on and get a line in the water instead of tying knots on a cold jetty.
It's built as a simple running rig, light enough not to spook a whiting feeding over sand or weed, and matched to strips cut from a pilchard or similar oily bait. Keep a couple of spares in the tackle box, because a rough bottom or a decent fish will eventually take one.
We don't have the exact hook size and trace length on file for this one, so ask us in store if you want it confirmed before you buy. Full specs are in the tabs below, and if you're not sure it suits your trip, call us on (08) 8536 4333 or pop in to 34-52 Milnes Rd, Strathalbyn.
