It's a wind-up mechanical timer, so there's no batteries to go flat and nothing to program. Screw it onto the garden tap, turn the tap on, then set the dial anywhere up to 120 minutes and it counts down and closes. It suits a sprinkler, a soaker hose or a drip line off the tap. It's a simple once-off timer, so it won't come back on by itself the next day.
