Stops a tap that keeps dripping after you've already put a new washer in, because the old brass seat it closes onto is worn and a fresh washer can't seal against it.

These are stainless steel tap seats that push into the old seat, so the jumper valve has a smooth new face to close on. They suit 13mm (1/2 inch) taps, which is the usual size on most household taps. Turn the water off at the meter, take the tap headwork out, push the new seat in and put a new washer on while you're there. Stainless steel lasts far longer than the original brass.
