A chainsaw that's wandering off the line or chewing through wood slower than it used to is usually just telling you the chain needs a sharpen.

These 3/16 inch (4.76mm) grinding stones fit straight onto a Dremel, Craftsman or most other rotary tool, and they're sized for 3/8 inch low-profile pitch chains, the pitch on most home saws. Five stones come in the pack, so a slip or a worn-out stone partway through the job doesn't stop you.

A sharp chain cuts straighter and faster, with a lot less kickback risk than a dull one, which makes this a cheap job to stay on top of. Keep a pack on the shelf next to the saw and touch up the chain before it gets properly blunt, not after.
