    Linseed oil putty for bedding glass into old timber window frames and redoing the putty that's cracked and dropped out.

    It's the traditional way of glazing a timber sash. Clean out the old putty, run a bed of fresh putty into the rebate, press the glass in and pin it, then run the front putty and smooth it off with a putty knife. Linseed putty dries slowly from the outside in, so it needs to skin over before you paint it, and painting over it is what protects it. Haymes don't publish a data sheet for this one, so check the tin for the drying time and what it suits before you start.
