A traditional hardwood float for finishing render and plaster by hand. Running it over a wall in smooth, overlapping passes closes up the surface and brings out a slightly sandy texture, the finish lime render and old-school cement work is meant to have.

Hardwood holds its flat face better than the cheap ply versions, and it won't flex and leave ripples in the finish. It's still the tool plasterers reach for on heritage jobs and anywhere a poly float would leave the surface too slick.

Good for closing up cement render, lime plaster and rough concrete where you want grip, not gloss. Keep it clean and dry between uses and it will outlast a few poly floats.
