French Breakfast is the elegant cousin of the round radish, an oval root with a red top and a white tip and a flavour that is crisp and milder than most. It is just as quick, ready in three to four weeks.
The trick with any radish is a steady, fast run. Give it sun, free-draining soil and consistent water so the roots stay crisp and tender rather than hot and woody. Thin early so each one has room.
Sow a short row every couple of weeks and you will always have one coming on. It is a lovely crop for tucking into spare corners of the bed.
