Orchids don't want to sit in wet potting mix, they want air around their roots. This one's a coarse pine bark blend built specifically for that, graded to stay open and free-draining while still holding enough moisture to keep the plant going between waterings.

It suits most Australian orchids and works especially well for cymbidiums, common across South Australian gardens. Repot every couple of years and the bark keeps doing its job instead of breaking down into mush the way a standard mix would.

Don't reach for a regular potting mix here. Orchid roots need the open texture this one's built for, or you'll end up with root rot instead of flowers.
