    When the joint has to hold and the parts can't take a full weld's heat. These 45% silver rods melt at a lower temperature than the bronze rods, so they suit refrigeration and HVAC pipework, fire service fittings, and any close-fitting joint where you want fast capillary flow into the gap.

    The flux is already in the coating, so there's no separate paste to mix and apply before you start. The finished joint holds good strength and ductility and copes with ongoing heat up to 200°C, which covers most plumbing and marine uses.
