For fixing straight through to a timber batten, this Type 17 screw does the drilling and the sealing in one pass.

It's a 14 gauge by 100mm screw with a Type 17 fluted point, so it bites into hardwood or softwood without a pilot hole and clears its own chips as it goes, which means it won't jam halfway through a batten. The flanged hex head pulls the fixing down tight, and the bonded neo washer keeps water out of the hole.

Class 4 galvanising is standard, so it's built to sit outside in the weather for the long haul, not just look fine on install day. They come in a box of 25, enough for a decent stretch of roof or fascia.
